Frederick Douglas

Last weekend I visited Frederick Douglas’ house. It is still beautiful, and standing strong. Frederick Douglas was born a slave, and worked his way to freedom. He self taught him self to read and write, and wrote many books in his life time.

We are now giving our last plea for help. Now is when we need your support most. We are doing callins today downtown and we are depending on you to help. We are also having hopefuly having over 1000 students comment on the blog we started on March 6th and 7th. PLEASE leave a comment. If you want to see what it’s like the be in Darfur trying to servive go here. There is so much more to learn about Darfur, so go to this website, Dafur Drawn to see the Genocide through the kids in Darfus eyes. The things these children draw is so heart breaking, and this is exactly what they’ve been going through, and are at risk of everyday. One of the pictures, is a drawing by one of the children serviving in Darfur. You can see the Janjaweed are the men on horse back, and the guns. You see the camels, and you can tell that all the horses are in motion, running after something. What do you think they’re running after.

Improvment? I think so!

Posted by two23 in Uncategorized

Looking back on my old posts, I see they aren’t much different. But that just may be because They were all in between the same period of time. I guess I took a break from the blog posts so it’s hard to see the difference. Every peice of writing is different. Some were esseys, some were just short reflections. That makes it hard to compair. As far as grammer goes I don’t think I’ve improved because I don’t belive I was that bad at grammer to begin with. I think I’m a pretty good writer, and don’t have much to improve on. So when I look back on my previous posts I have no regrets, and I’m proud of the writing I did.

More facts on Darfur

Conflict began immediatly after civil war in Darfur.
400,00 dead already
2.5 million displaced
2 million out of 6 million still servive.
The US would just be providing protection, it would not be an invasion

There are things we can do to help.
We can raise awarness, to call ins, and we can raise money.

The Genocide in Darfur

Posted by two23 in Uncategorized

darfur_large1.jpg                                                                                                                                   This very moment there are hundreds of people dying from of the Genocide in Darfur. Some are dying from starvation, some are being murdered by the Janjaweed (a group of men riding camels sent to kill the rebells by the govt.), and some are dying from the harsh conditions they are forced to live in. As you read this women are at danger of being raped just for stepping out of their refugee camps to collect wood, and men are at danger of being killed everywhere they go that the Janjaweed can find them. Since 2003, when the Genocide in Darfur started, there have been over 200,000 killed in darfur by this Genocide alone. There have been 2 1/2 million forced from their homes since 2003 also.  This all started because Darfur struck oil in 2003. The farmers whom felt like they weren’t getting their share of money from this oil started a rebellion. They were labeled as “The Rebells” They set their sights on the government. In order to fight back, the government sent out a group of men called the Janjaweed to kill the rebells. Along the way the Janjaweed attacked and destroyed villages, killed and raped thousands, and even moved their war into Darfurs neighboring country, Chad.       Though the government in Darfur is aware of all of this they don’t take action. They sit back and watch as their country is torn to pieces, almost as if they don’t care.      Because China and Darfur are an alliance we cannot step in and send troops to Darfur or we will lose all of our recourses  that China offers us, and completely lose our ties with China so we have to ask ourselves, How much are we willing to jeopardize our relations with China, over Darfur?
