Deceptive Advertising unit

Posted by two23 in Uncategorized

My opinion

I thought that this unit was interesting but at the same time boring. It was fastinating to learn all of this but at the same time I had much more fun on the childrens book unit, and from last year the sheakspear unit. Mostly because to me, that is what english is. Writing books, learning about Sheakspear. To me the only part of this unit that had anything to do with english was the boring essey we all had to write. And it didn’t teach us how to be creative at all, it was a straight up do this and don’t do this. I also feel that all of our esseys were similar. They all had the same point to prove, and the same “fastinating” information over and over agian. It didn’t teach us how to be good creative writers, it taught us to be cookie cutter writers.

Advertising Targeted at Kids

Posted by two23 in Uncategorized

Period 2
Is Advertising Targeted Towards Children Okay

People are saying advertising targeted towards kids is a terrible thing because they are using “brainwash”. But are they really using brainwash? But the fact is that Advertisers are targeting products to children as young as 6 months old. They use kids to help them with “buzz” advertising. They use psychologists to teach them how to get into their minds. Most kids have no idea that they are being brainwashed into buying these products. Advertising targeted towards kids is becoming brainwash.

Some problems with Advertising targeted to kids are the effects it has on the brain. There is a study that proves when wrapped in a McDonald’s wrapper a carrot tastes better in a child’s mind. Imagine that. What have these children seen or heard that has imbedded it in there mind that a carrot of all things would taste better in a McDonalds wrapper. One reason for this is the fact that the huge company that owns McDonalds meets with psychologists that specialize in getting into peoples heads and almost controlling them. They sit down and take the time just to think of ways to stick that McDonalds logo in the right places so kids see it and want it. It’s as if these companies are using this form of advertising as brainwash. Another reason why these kids would rather have a carrot wrapped in a McDonalds’ wrapper is that these children have had this M logo stuck in front of them their whole life. It reminds them of good times that give them feelings comfort and warmth.

These advertisers go so far to get these children to buy the product they’re promoting but they have to draw the line somewhere. But on the other hand you must think of it like this; these companies, advertisers, and psychologists are trying to make a living. How are you supposed to make money if no one knows about your product? But there are different types of advertising. There is deceptive advertising. And if you just think about the words “deceptive advertising” what comes to mind? I think of deliberately deceiving people to make them want your product. Though they are trying to make a living how far is too far?

Advertisers are not only using psychologists to get into kids minds, they’re using the kids also! Buzz advertising is when these marketers and companies supply their product to the cool kids for free. They look at these schools and look for the popular ones to go and give these new normally really expensive items for free, just so when their friends see them wearing it they’ll say, “Where did you get that?” and “Where can I get one?” And this is just one other form of advertising used as brainwash.

So the question is, “Is advertising targeted towards kids okay?” Some advertising targeted towards kids is ok, but most isn’t. The type of advertising where they get into your mind and try to make you buy it with brainwash is not ok. There are large companies who do not use these dirty tactics to promote their products. There are some that stay inside certain boundaries. So it truly depends on what type of sneaky, dirty tactics advertisers use to promote their product. But not all forms of advertising are terrible, and not all forms of advertising are bad for a Childs brain. But advertising like this must be stopped immediately, before we raise a whole other generation of robots and victims to deceptive advertising.

Neopets

Posted by two23 in Uncategorized

Neopets, good ol’ Neopets. Cute little creatures, there’s no harm there! Is there?

Have you ever noticed when you play certain games like this game where your racing, there’s something in the backround and the colors all seem so familiar? Well that something in the backround is a McDonalds logo. That logo is viewed by kids our age, and younger. And you and I both know haw bad McDonalds is for you. Do you want your little sister or brother growing up thinking “mmm, McDonalds! Neopets makes it seem ok to like greasy nasty bad for you food!”

Advertising + Kids = Brainwash!

Posted by two23 in Uncategorized

Got a TV in your room? Watch it all the time? Than you coulkd be a victome of Advertising Brainwash!

Did you know. . .
-We as kids are being targeted as victomes of advertising brain wash!
-Huge corporations are spending BILLIONS of dollars on advertising to get to our heads.
-The “cool” kids are given the “hott” new clothing items, and products to show off and get they’re peers to buy!

Have you seen a movie, with a huge famous movie star that uses a certain brand name product, a lot! After watching that movie did you want some of what they had? Did you actually buy it? Well if any of these questions were answered with a yea, then you know what I’m talking about. These products were specifically targeted to you because these huge companies know that if some one that you may “look up to” has something, that you have access to you would want to go out and buy it. Yea, confusing. . . I know.

So We read an article all about this kind of thing and advertising brainwash and the article even pointed out how a 6 month old baby could be victom of this advertising brainwash. By putting these images infront of them they are inbeding them into they’re head so they remember these images and products for many years to come. Could you imagine, before you were even able to talk you were being fooled into wanting these things.

Some corporations are advertising things that are terrible for you falsely. McDonalds for example is advertising health for kids, when they’re product is fattening our youth and killing people slowely. Something tells me that chopped potato’s fried in a boiling pit of grease and oil isn’t as healthy as they make it seem.

Pakistan “Hands over it’s broadcast equipment.”

Posted by two23 in Uncategorized

ProtestingObviously Pakistan has no freedom of press judging by the reality which is happening this very moment. Innocent people being arrested, and all forms of media are being taken over by the government. The government is taking over and doing what ever it wants in Pakistan. People, lawyers, judges, etc. are being fined, prosecuted, and arrested. This right now is history in the making, and it’s Pakistan’s time to fight back and take over it’s self, and separate from the government because obviously the government they have now isn’t helping. I believe that this is Pakistan’s opportunity to take back control and truly make history. Now I guess it’s all up to Pakistan.  .  .

Scalessss. . . for wishessss. . .

Posted by two23 in Uncategorized

Download Our Movie/Books title is Scales For wishes. We spent so much time working on it. We spent time after school making music for it but it didn’t end up in the film it’s self. I was the tech. person in the group and I did do some audio. I’m happy with how it came out, but there’s always room for improvment! It was much better then doing vacab posters or worksheets, or even vocab tests!
